26 Apr 2003, IMAC, Huntington, NY, USA
Both shows at the IMAC, once again, were great. I love
these gigs, and being Rod's home town, they feel very familyish. The LI gigs are also such a treat, because there's never an opening band, and you get a double dose! The stage is large and the audience has a clear unobstructed view.
Funny enough, at the first show, I found myself
sitting next to a professor of Russian language. I
laughed and showed him the Yak52 Russian Aero Club tee
I brought for Steve, and proceeded to horrify the guy
by rattling off my repetoire of Russian swears. Wish I
had the other Russian tee, that's hard to decipher. Ah
well.
I started to take notes and keep track of setlists,
then changed my mind, since often other reviews
include them.
A couple of suggestions for the band; 1. Can you bring
back the old full version of Odyssey. 2. When are we
going to convince Steve to do a couple of classical
tunes on these gigs again? 3. Consider filming there.
The stage is so big, camera wielders could really
manuever around the band and get some great shots in
there, especially around Rod. Also I bet the sound
would be good.
I forgot to mention in the BB Kings review, the
presence of Roger Glover. It's really great to see
Deep Purple members attending Dixie Dregs gigs, and
told him I thought so. Heard he was also at the Imac.
Rock On!
