STEVE MORSE - "SECTS, DREGS & ROCK 'N' ROLL" DVD A review by Chris Herbert The D.V.D. should be considered a MUST HAVE by any guitarist that has ever heard a Dregs, S.M.B., or Purple tune, scratched their head, and thought to themselves, WOW!! This is not an instructional tape. However, I have always been interested in how the Dregs, given the enormous talent of each member "divide" their individual parts. It is enthralling to see haw all the parties play off of each other. The albums are great, but this is a LIVE BAND. I have not have the opportunity to see Steve play live. After watching the D.V.D., I have no intention of ever missing show even remotely near my home again. The New York show is fantastic. I happened to be working on "Jesu" myself when I saw the D.V.D. Steve's articulation of the classic left me, as always, in awe. The "guitar Show" interview is a true wealth of knowledge for any guitarist. Steve explores the easily implemented, but often ignored tonal possibilities of the guitar (especially his Ernie Ball signature model). After watching and experimenting, I felt like my "tool box" of sound options had really grown. Thanks Steve, MONEY WELL SPENT! P.S. I don't work for Ernie Ball! |
