Deep Purple tour Japan and Korea late March and early April, followed by dates in Finland, Russia, Greece and Switzerland where they play an open air show in the snow.

A few weeks later Deep Purple play at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and in Spain.

The Steve Morse Band and the Dixie Dregs tour together in August.

Steve records his parts for the Manuel Barrueco album 'Nylon And Steel' before going on tour with Deep Purple in South America and Europe. In South America they perform with different orchestras in each country and the Romanian Philharmonic Orchestra accompanies Deep Purple in Europe. The show at the Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands on October 30 is recorded.

 
 


The Steve Morse Band and the Dixie Dregs tour together again in January. The show at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA features the Ernie Ball/Music Man All Stars with John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, Albert Lee, Vinnie Moore and Tony Levin.

Deep Purple do an Australasian tour in March. Several shows are recorded.

Deep Purple appear at the Pavarotti & Friends concert in Modena, Italy on May 29.

Deep Purple do a US tour, with Lynyrd Skynyrd co-headlining and Ted Nugent opening, in June and July. The second show of the tour (without Skynyrd and Nugent) at Sunrise Musical Theatre, Fort Lauderdale, FL on June 5 is recorded for a future DVD release.

'The Soundboard Series', a box with six shows from the Australasian tour, is released in June.

G3 play at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL on July 22 and Steve Morse joins Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci for the encore.

'Live At The Rotterdam Ahoy' is released in August.

Deep Purple do a European tour in August and early September with Don Airey replacing Jon Lord who is recovering from knee surgery.

In November Deep Purple visit Steve's studio for a writing session.

The Dixie Dregs tour in November and December. The show at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT on November 29 is recorded for a future DVD release.

 
 


The Dixie Dregs tour again in January.

Deep Purple tour in the UK in February. This tour was supposed to be the farewell tour for Jon Lord, but several shows are cancelled due to illness. The dates are rescheduled for later in the year.

'Split Decision' is released on March 26.

Deep Purple, with Don Airey as the permanent replacement for Jon Lord, tour in Russia in March. A short Asian tour follows in May.

Deep Purple do an extensive US tour, with the Scorpions co-headlining and Dio opening, from the end of May until early August.

The 'Perihelion' DVD is released in August.

Deep Purple do a short German tour, with Dio, late August through early September.

The rescheduled UK dates, with a few additions, take place in September. Jon Lord takes place behind the keyboards halfway through the show and Don Airey joins again for the finale and encore.

Deep Purple perform shows in Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and Greece late September.

In December a writing session with Deep Purple takes place in Los Angeles, CA, with producer Michael Bradford.

Deep Purple have a recording session in Los Angeles, CA, in January and February with producer Michael Bradford.

The Dixie Dregs tour the US East Coast in April and May.

Deep Purple do a European tour starting at the end of May and ending in early July. They appear again at the Pavarotti & Friends concert and many of the shows also feature Lynyrd Skynyrd on the bill.

Steve takes part in a recording session with Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake and Jimmy Barnes in Orlando, FL. They re-record six Ozzy Osbourne songs as well as five new songs.

Steve Morse appears at Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

'Bananas' is released in August.

Deep Purple appear at some European Festivals in August and a 'Bananas' launch party is held in Berlin, Germany where they play six songs from the new album.

Deep Purple start the 'Bananas' tour in South America in September. A European tour follows from October until December.

 
 


Deep Purple tour in Canada and the US, with Thin Lizzy opening, in February. During the second part of the show the entire 'Machine Head' album is performed with the inclusion of 'When A Blind Man Cries'.

'Major Impacts 2' is released in February.

Deep Purple do an Asian tour in March and April.

The Asian tour is directly followed by a tour in Australia and New Zealand.

While on tour in Australia the opportunity presents itself to perform two shows with Living Loud. The first show takes place in Melbourne on April 25, the day the album 'Living Loud' is released. The second show, at Stage 11 in Sydney, on April 26 is filmed for a future DVD release.

Another European tour with Deep Purple follows in June and July. The last show of the leg in Lebanon is cancelled due to a war with Israel.
